I love Christmas... It's my favorite time of year, followed only by Spring/Summer. :-) It's the only time of year I'm okay with cold and snow. If it snows on Christmas Eve, ohmigosh, PERFECTION!
I'm such a romantic when it comes to the holidays. Working retail for 5 years made it really tough to be as gung ho about it, knowing that my wonderful time of the year would be plagued by long hours, long lines, and scores of angry people demanding your one-on-one attention at all times. I remember running the Tyson's Corner EB Games two years ago (now the 3rd largest mall in America, at the time was the 9th) and just being utterly exhausted every single day. Basically, I'd come in to open, have 2 or 3 associates come in by 11 or 12, and I wouldn't stop "working the line" 'til I left at 6 or 7 pm (finding out what games people were getting, fetching them from the back or from the case so that by the time they got to the register, they'd be out in 30 seconds. I would always hope that the next person I helped would require me to go in the back room, just so I could get a few seconds of peace and a chance to breathe.... On the floor, I was upbeat, perky and boundless... In the back room, I was my real self, exhausted and dazed. Oh those were hellish times. Thankfully, this was before I married Jeremy, and he saw how tough it was, and didn't make me endure it again the following year. :-)
Anyways, I'm looking forward to this Christmas. With only 3-8 weeks to go 'til Jeremy Jr's arrival, work will be light, and I will be heavy! :-) Jeremy's parents will be in town, we're gonna have a nice big Christmas day dinner (we'll probably try to get most of the cooking done the week Jeremy's Mom gets in town, so that all we'll need to do is re-heat while the turkey roasts) and it will just be a peaceful, relaxing time (unless we're in labor...)
Jeremy Jr. really likes the Christmas music. I was listening to clips online last night, trying to find something new for this year (I try to get at least one or two new Christmas CD's a season... I love Christmas music... And not that Santy Claus crap ['Santa Baby' has got to be one of the WORST Christmas songs EVER!]. My favorite songs are 'What Child is This (Greensleeves)', 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen', 'Oh Holy Night', so on and so forth...) and he was just moving around to no end while it was on! It was so cute! So we'll see if he makes it out in time to enjoy that. :-)
And that's all for now. We've got our Christmas tree, I'm going through decorations now, and after the Steelers game, we'll try to get some decorating done. I'll try to post pics when we're done.
