Canada takes lead in declaring BPA "toxic"
While Jeremiah's almost out of the "danger zone" (the small risk that there is...) we'll still be replacing our bottles and sippy cups with BPA-free versions in time for Jess Jr. Our Breastflow bottles definitely have to go--the risk is highest when the bottles are sterilzed in boiling water (which we did with those) and even higher levels are released when the plastic becomes scratched and cloudy (such as when using a brillo pad to wash them, as the kind maids in Mexico did while we were there.)
Since we never heat his bottles anymore (and haven't in a long time!) the risk for his Avent bottles is probably very small. But we will transistion out of those, as well as his sippy cups, over time. The only annoying thing about having to do so is that no one else makes 11 oz bottles... There are a couple of 10 oz bottles out there, but Jeremiah can polish off 11 oz and still ask for more, no problem (though he is starting to grow out of the 'bottle stage', so it may not be as big of a problem as we think.) Hopefully Avent gets with the program and makes a BPA-free version of their bottles soon, so we won't have to worry about it with Jess Jr.
