Jesslyn is 4 months old today!
What's new? Not a whole lot, though we had one biggie this week--she rolled over for the first time! Technically, she was 3 months and almost 4 weeks old when she did it, but it happened... I was there. :) Well, I saw her no longer on the side I put her down on, at least. :) And then Jeremy found her the same way again this morning. Pretty cool stuff. Our little girl is growing up!
So much for 6-9 month clothes, though... I got her a bunch of cute things, and she's already starting to outgrow most of it, especially pajamas. It's almost like she's skipping 6-9 and wants to go right to 9-12 or 6-12. Maybe we'll just skip the 12 month sizes and go to 18 months... Might be a little big early on, but I have a feeling it won't be long before she can wear it comfortably. Definitely a big gal. She's already hitting the back of the seat when in the car, and has to have the straps at their longest length... My guess is that we'll have another month or so, at most, until we need to move her into a convertible car seat.
Otherwise, things are about the same. She continues to be a happy baby, in general, still quick to let you know when she's tired/hungry/wants to be held. Drool seems to be more frequent than spit-up nowadays, so that's good. I haven't scheduled her next appointment yet (we're still "working" on it....) but that should be soon, and we certainly are interested in seeing how much she's grown.
Unlike Jeremiah, we'll probably be waiting until she's closer to 6 months to start solids--she definitely knows her bottle when she sees it, and loves to watch us eat, but doesn't seem that interested in eating herself--yet. Fine with me--just makes things more complicated when she does. :) So I'm in no hurry!

Ahhh, interesting you mention upgrading her seat. We as well finally had to take the back off of the Booster seats in both our cars because Jake was way past the height requirements and just over the weight, I believe(we had to sort of keep him in it until, his weight caught up).
ReplyDeleteHe is like a little weed. Sometimes, I just can't over how tall he is but it's kind of cute because he is so thin. I think he is going to be a tall, lean handsome fellow like my brother. Lucky boy, got the skinny gene(wish i did). Oh well, we are all beautiful in our own way thats how Mother Nature intended it(life would be boring if we were all the same). Right, right? :)
Keep the photos coming. Jesslyn looks so different--she changed so much(Is that blonde hair I detect?! It looked brown when she was born... Must be from Daddy! Nothing like a Portuguese girl with blonde hair..believe me I should know, I am a 1/4. It makes for interestng converstaion. Lol). And Jeremiah is looking more and more like a big boy(loosing those babyish features). :]
As far as her seat goes, I'm a lot more educated now as to when to move 'em up and around. That's good to hear that Jakob is still in a booster--I know plenty o' folks who took their kids outta their car seats once they hit 5, not realizing there's more to switching than just "age".
ReplyDeleteWe'll probably keep Jesslyn rear-facing until she's 35 lbs, since that's what her car seat can hold in the RF position. Jeremiah we switched as soon as he turned one, and I didn't know any better. So she may not forward face until she's 18-20 mos (some babies that means until they're 3 or so!) I almost flipped Jeremiah back around because I learned that RF is safer, if they can do it, but he only had a lb or so to go at that point, so I left him. And then the car seats they'll be going into can harness up to 80 lbs, then booster up to 100 lbs, so they'd better get used to 'em!
As far as the hair goes, yeah, I think it's coming in more blonde-brown like her brother. She's only 1/4 Portuguese, though (and 1/4 Polock, 50% mutt. :)
I think Jake's got them beat on the mutt part. lol.
ReplyDeleteHe is: Norwegian, Whelsh, French, Portuguese, English, Irish, and Scottish. I forget the precentages but, I believe French is only like a drop(like 1/16th).
But yeah..I plan on keeping Jake in the booster seat itself (without the back support)until he is eight(or until he can sit on the actual car seat and his legs can dangle over the edge and the seat belt fits just right on the shoulder... so really it's just waiting for the rest of his height to kick in[which at his rate won't take long at all], and add about 20 more pounds[which will be the squasher for us since he is so darn picky and gains weight like a bird], to get out of the booster seat completely). Not that I am trying to rush it because it is the safest mode of travel for a child but, it would be nice to be booster free(I think they even say up to ten years old now they must sit in the booster [but, I doubt I will go that far with it] and they can't sit in the front seat until like 14, due to the airbags).
Definately much different than we were tots, I bet. I bet our parents had us sitiing in the regular car seat at eight or less. Amazing how much changes just within one generation.
Hah! I see your "mutt" and raise you another!
ReplyDeleteOur kids are, at minimum: 1/4 Polish (w/ a smidge of Urkraine in there somewhere...,) 1/4 Portuguese, Scottish, Irish, British, Austrian, German and Belorussian... and Canadian, but we won't hold that against them. :)
