I'm going crazy...
Apparently, toy makers nowadays are under the impression that baby toys aren't fun unless they have flashy lights and play music. What they DON'T think about, it seems, is the effect these toys will have on the parents.
I have had songs.... baby einstein songs.... stuck in my head.... for days.... and days....
And it's not just me! Jeremy came home from work the other day, and I told him, "I have Jeremiah's toys' songs stuck in my head..." He said, "Me too!" and started humming one... IT WAS THE EXACT SAME SONG I HAD IN MY HEAD!
Why this is significant is because HE HADN'T BEEN HOME ALL DAY TO HEAR IT! It was stuck there from whenever he heard it last, probably the day before!
No more... PLEASE! No more! Jeremiah has plenty of toys that play music, and have lights, and take batteries, between his swing, mobile, jumperoo, and caterpillar thing I use to distract him while I shower, WE'RE ALL BATTERIED OUT!
So, if you wish to buy anything for our sweet little Jeremiah, head back to the basics! Blocks, stacking rings, even books are all great options!
Just please... no more batteries....

Yeah..I hear you on that one. Just wait until he gets to toddler stage and begins playing with the 'big boy' toys (like battery operated Hot Wheels tracks and Talking Tonka Trucks or even better Transformers and Big Motorized Dinosaurs) then, you will have to buy the more expensive batteries like, size C, and DD. Enjoy the size AA and AAA's while you can. Oh..and I forgot the stage where they want a kitty cat or a puppy..oh I just love explaining to a four year old he can't have a puppy but his landlord can. Like I said...enjoy the baby toys..I miss those days. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell, most of his toys already take the C and D batteries... at least the swing does. I don't mind the noise so much as the music that gets stuck in my head. And the fact that any toy that requires batteries is pretty boring without them, so you HAVE to find/buy them or it won't get used.
ReplyDeleteAs for pets, he's already got a kitty, and as far as I'm concerned, if he wants a puppy, that's fine with me!
S'long as the dog hates cats... ;-)
~jess <--Not a cat person...
You are lucky you are allowed to do that. I would love to get a cat (which the landlord would prolly be more forgiving and flexible with) but my husband is very allergic to them. So, that is definately out. And 'hypo allergenic' cats cost way too much money (like one company I searched called Allerca or something..the kittens go for 6,000) so that's not an option. We have been thinking of possibly making a compromise with the landlord however and asking if we can get a small dog (like weight: 5-7 or 7-10 pounds) that way he doesnt have to freak out about the dog destrying everything. Plus, with small dogs you can litter train them so, there is no going outside to ruin the lawn. I guess we will see. Pets really help kids (with focus, socialization, responsibility, etc) a lot especially, when they are overly hyper (like Jakob) so..we really want to get a dog. Blah. Well, I got get going. Wish us luck. =)!
