Not a very happy day, news wise.
First, the feds cut interest rates 3/4 of a point--the market sinks even further, and concerns about the economy grow (at least it leveled out a bit by COB.)
Then, I hear Fred Thompson dropped out of the race for President. Now, this didn't sadden me as much as when Colbert dropped out (by the way, anyone else going to go see his painting at the National Gallery??? I gotta go!) but he was an entertaining fella to have in the race.
And then, the bomb dropped: Heath Ledger was found dead in his NYC apartment. That... just... stinks. Not that I was a fan of his role in Brokeback Mountain, but from what I've seen of him as the Joker in The Dark Knight, man this guy was going to be on fire!
Oh well. Dems the way things are. I feel bad for his daughter, of course. No one should have to lose their Dad so soon. And I'm kinda annoyed with the way the media has been covering it. Yes, pills were found in his room, but mostly OTC stuff. While the police are not ruling out a suicide, it sounds more like an accidental overdose. One site said that he just returned from filming in London, and was trying to get back on East Coast time. Makes sense to me. I hope it wasn't a suicide, and he certainly isn't a druggie. I guess we'll just wait for the medical reports to come out.
On a more selfish note, I hope this doesn't affect The Dark Knight's release. Don't see why it would, since it doesn't open until July, but ya never know.
Boooooo of a day. Very sad.
