Jeremiah had his 18 month checkup Thursday--last one 'til he's two! We're now on annual visits!! He's graduated, but Mommy and Daddy haven't (back to monthly/bi monthly/tri monthly visits once Jess Jr shows up... oh well.) Here's the lowdown!
Weighing in at 31lbs, 5 oz on the "big boy scale" (too big for the infant scale!) and 35 inches long, he's still topping the charts at 95 and 97th percentile, respectively. I swear our pediatrician looks at us and expects Jeremiah to come in 20 lbs overweight or something--he's always "very happy, very pleased, he's doing excellant," when he goes over his numbers. And it seems like every visit, he switches us to a different milk--we can now switch Jeremiah to 1%, which is kinda nice, since that's what we drink. No more buying 4 gallons of milk at a time! Yay!
Everything else was good. He screamed the entire time nurses were around (doesn't trust 'em, I guess--with good reason, as another one came in to give him his shot...) but was good when the doc was around. And that's 'bout it on that.
After his appointment, it was Mommy's turn. That visit went well enough--everything looks good, no problems with Jess Jr. She's really high, though, not at all engaged (much to Mommy's dismay... I'd like to have my ribcage back, please! Maybe then I could have a heartburn-free day. Ah well--only a few more weeks, hopefully! Next visit is at 36 weeks, and maybe we'll find out we're dialated or something! Not that it means anything... I'm not expecting any action until the end of August at the earliest, though it'll probably be September. Suck it up, me! Okay. :)
I wish I had the crazy cleaning compulsions of most "nesting" women. Instead, I have the, "We have to do this and this and this!" Like, getting Jeremiah's room done... moving the nursery furniture in, replacing the velcro tabs on his diapers, etc. Yesterday, I re-covered a crib bumper that we had received but will never use (the colors just didn't match anything... and it wasn't that cute to begin with. A worthy sacrifice to be re-covered!) It came out well enough... I didn't have a good way to accurately measure and cut, so some of the panels were kinda crooked (and didn't really match up equally with one another... ah well.) Jeremiah likes it. It's kinda silly that I spent the same amount of money on fabric and ribbons to make it (not to mention time...) as it would have cost to buy one in the store, but I was tired of having this useless bumper sitting around the house, and the new one is much softer and more cuddly than what you'd get in the store. So I guess it was worth it. I'll have pics once we get the nursery set up.
And that's about it. Jeremy's gonna take his brother/SIL to the airport this afternoon, and then we're planning on heading out to Grandma's for some pool action. Though we may have to go tomorrow, if they plan on having guests over... We'll see! Time to go put Jeremiah down for his nap!

Just some advice on the milk: Even though your Pediatrician says it's okay to move to the 1 percent milk(why they say that I don't know..whole milk is so much better for your kids..1-2 percent milk is what people on diets go on[I should know, because that's what I do for mine]..it should not be given to kids)..you should stick with whole for a little while longer(the reasons are endless so, I won't put them here). Kids need all the fat and the calicium that is in it(heck, I even buy the Quick chocolate syrup with the calicium in it so, it gives Jakob twice the calcium; a nice little boost). I plan on giving Jakob whole milk for a long time..I don't think I will ever switch.
ReplyDeleteJust some advice/thoughts on that. =)
Well, he's been on 2% since 15 months, and is still thriving. I think the justification is that he's obviously getting plenty of calories and fat in his diet without the extra fat and calories from whole milk, so there's no reason to keep giving it to him, since it would just be in excess.
ReplyDeleteNow, if he were in the 97th % for height and 20th for weight, I probably wouldn't switch. Considering how the only difference between the different %'s of milk is the amount of fat and calories (well, and carbs) then I don't see any reason to keep him on the fatty stuff. Don't forget, Jeremiah's a 31 lb 18 month old. Jakob is 4+ years older than him, but only, what, 15/20 lbs heavier? I probably wouldn't switch Jakob either. :)
We just don't want a fat kid. He's thriving on the diet he eats without the extra calories, so we'll probably listen to the doc on this one.
Thanks for the advice, though! :)
Yeah, true. I suppose you have a point there with Jeremiah weighing in at 31 lbs at a year and a half (wowie kazowy!! I see a future football player in your hands). Yeah, Jakob at his last weight(last week at the Consultation) in was 50 pounds exactly and he is 45 inches tall(he did not get his height checked then but the last time we measured him, he was 45 inches..so, he may be more than that now).
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky Jeremiah is a good eater...Jakob is still madly picky to this day. I am not sure how I am ever going to get him to eat--its strange its like a stressful thing to him when we try and introduce meats and veggies to him(and its always kind of been). I am just hoping he grows out of that pahse or whatever it is and blossums out to eat a more diverse menu. Until then, it's double calcium milk and double calciun food(Spaghetti-O's and Mac And Cheeze have extra calcium in them nowadays).
Oh and heres my new vote on Jess Jr names, just because, I felt like throwing some idea in there. =D!---
~Marian (I know, old fashioned but, its kind of nice)
~Lotus (I was at the park and there was a girl named that and I thought it was so pretty)
~Lilly (the girl had a sister named Lilly. How cute..matching flower names)
~Sage (I know what you're thinking but its such a cool name, Theres a girl down the street from us and her name is Sage. If I ever had a girl, I would totally name it Sage)
~Brenna
~Brianna
or how about a combo name like: Jessimah or Jereica?
Lol..kidding. =D
Ha! Thanks for the name suggestions. That's more than I've gotten outta Jeremy so far. :) He likes to keep his opinions on names "close to the chest" I guess. Lilly's pretty, but we've got a close friend who went that route--have to have at least two degrees of separation to copy someone else's name! :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll let ya know when she gets here! Hopefully we have a name by then, at least...
