Kinda slow.

Well, not much to write about since not much has been going on.  I don't want to post just to post, but I've been pretty quiet, so I'll fill ya in on a little.

Last Friday, we went to our first official "playgroup."  It was... meh.  There were only two other Mommies there (the gal's house was small, so 4 was the max # of Mommies allowed.)  They each had 4 year olds, who were apparently best friends, so those two played while Jeremiah explored and played on his own.  Not that he minded, of course, since he's more interested in what toys other people have rather than other people themselves.  And Jesslyn couldn't care less where we were, so long as Mommy was there.  She did hold up quite well with no nap, though, which was reassuring.

The weather this week has been... weird.  Last week, we had thunderstorms, and endless rain, it seemed.  The weekend, though, was GORGEOUS!  Sunny and high 60's, low 70's--kind of weather that makes you wanna get stuff done!  Jeremiah and I went "yardsale-ing" and got a few little things (was looking for books and outdoor toys... guess I'll wait for Dani's Duds for that.) When I got home, Jesslyn went down for her nap, so we all went outside and worked on cleaning out the garage.  Jeremiah really enjoyed spending so much time outside, too, since the weather is only now getting nice enough to do so.

Once they were both asleep, I finished up the in garage while Jeremy mowed the lawn.  That night, we drove out to Bristow to have dinner with Grandpa---it was his 55th birthday!  That was a nice time, though Jesslyn cried everytime someone looked at her (someone, as in, anyone in my family, including Grandma and Grandpa.  She was tired and didn't want to socialize... poor thing.)

She is getting better about strangers, though.  The gal that runs the nursery at church will usually end up carrying her around--she actually ENJOYS it (I mean that for both of them. :)  I told her I couldn't believe she enjoyed carrying her around all the time, since she's so heavy (24 lbs....) and her reply was simply that she's not heavy, compared to her 45 lb 4 year old.  :)  Well, yeah, I guess when you put it that way, she's not.  Needless to say, I'm glad that she enjoys carrying her around, as it's the only way we can get through a service at church.  Otherwise, Mommy gets paged.

Back to the weather.  Here's what the week has looked like, so far:  Sun, Sunny, 70.  Monday, Thunderstorms/Rainy, 40's? Tuesday, Cool, 40's, SNOW FLURRIES?! Wednesday, Cloudy, cool. Today, Sunny, high 60's.  Yeah, so kinda weird.  Sucks for all the kids who've been on Spring break.  I don't think this weekend is supposed to be nice, though.  We may have to do an indoor Easter egg hunt....  We'll see.

Jeremiah has been getting increasingly more physical with Jesslyn... Not to the point where I'm concerned, but to the point where I need to keep an eye on him to remind him she's just a baby, and he can't be that rough with her.  The other day, I caught him sitting on her, like he was riding a horse.  She was laughing, but that's a little too rough for Mommy's taste.  Yesterday, we went to Harris Teeter to get some groceries, and had them both in the "space shuttle" shopping cart (it has two  seats facing forward, with steering wheels for the kids, and the outside of the cart is painted like a shuttle,) and he kept pushing her head forward towards the steering wheel.  I don't think the was trying to hurt her, I think he was just being silly.  But she seemed to be getting a little annoyed.  Then again, Jeremiah was getting annoyed that she kept "touching" him.

It begins....

Oh, the "best" part was when we were checking out, and while I was loading groceries onto the belt, Jeremiah poured half a bottle of water on her head... on purpose.  I don't know what was going through his mind, but he did it.  I have to admit, though, it was pretty funny.  And Jesslyn barely reacted.  Once the water wasn't dripping in her eyes, you wouldn't have even known it had happened--until you picked her up and felt her soaking wet pants.

Good times, eh?

Still no forward motion from Jesslyn (though she's gotten SO CLOSE so many times!) No teeth.  She's been eating well, though, and enjoys bananas, peaches, pears and applesauce.  Yes, all fruit.  Usually because I either have it fresh, or have a bag frozen in the freezer that I can puree real quick.  I did make her sweet potatoes, and she kinda liked that.  Then she "gags" if I put any in her mouth.  Same thing with avocados.  So we'll hold off on those for now.  I think we'll try carrots next.

So that's it.
