Anyways, Jesslyn had her 6 month check up last week! Somehow, it was scheduled for April originally (I think it was because her 4 month was in Feb, right before she turned 5 months, so I did two months from then instead.... or something,) but we were able to get her in pretty quickly. We like her new pediatrician a lot (same practice, different doctor.) She actually takes time to listen to our concerns before responding, and seems to relate to what we're saying. I think we'll switch Jeremiah to her, as well, but he's not due back 'til next year, so we've got some time to think about it.
Yeah, so Jesslyn's doing well--still off the charts for weight/height/head. Tipped the scale at 23 lbs 10 oz, I think... 28 inches long (which is funny, because I think her crib is only 26 inches wide, so when she twists herself sideways, she has to cock her head to the side to fit... and then she starts to whine because she's stuck.) Don't remember her head, but who really cares about the head circumference, right? We do need to take her to a urologist to follow up on the whole "bladder reflux" but the doc wasn't too worried about it, so we're not either. All in all, all is well.
She's been eating her solids well lately. Started with rice cereal--hated it. Yeah, that didn't work well. So we added some bananas. Ahhhhhhhh! Now we're talking! All of a sudden, she digs the whole eating thing.
Next we tried peaches, and those were a winner, too. Today was avocados... Not so much there. Yeah... she started off well, but then started gagging with every spoonful. So I think we'll save that for another time.
On a side note, as a cloth diaper user, I miss the "infant poop." TMI? My bad.
Jeremiah wise, well, things are getting interesting. He's still a sweetheart for the most part, but boy... he has his moments where ya just gotta wonder, "Where is my sweet little boy?!" When he can't get his way, he now resorts to flailing about (sometimes towards Mommy's head, especially if she's carrying him....) and CRYING! It used to be stomping and screaming, and now it's crying and screaming (and hitting, not just "stuff" but today he was banging his head against the floor and the couch.) Yeesh... The outbursts themselves don't bother me so much as the fact that it's obvious my little boy doesn't know how to handle his emotions and act according and there's nothing I can do to help him. So I hold him, and try to find a way to distract him--it usually works.
Thankfully, when it comes to his sister, he's all lovey dovey. He loves to run into her room after her naptime, and climb up on the side of her crib to say hello, usually with a toy in hand. He loves it when I put her in his crib after his nap, and he gives her his "Brobee" to play with. He'll give her kisses and cuddles, and obviously loves her. He's never taken his frustration out on her (knock on wood....) even when she annoys him (like, God forbid, tries to play with HER toy when he's trying to watch Caillou [it makes noise...]) So we're very lucky, in that sense.
As far as his talking goes, yeah, he still needs some help with that. He's saying more now, though, so that's encouraging. We're still trying to figure out where we're going to take him, so for now, we're in limbo. But I think him developing his language skills will only help improve things. One funny side effect of it is that he's using the signs I tried teaching him when he was a baby. Especially "more" and "all done" (that one he's been using a while...") Now that he wants to communicate, he'll take whatever he can to do it, so if he can't say the word, he'll try something else.
And that's all for now. I've got a bunch of videos I need to upload, so hopefully I'll get those on here, soon.
