I read through some of the material they cover (not sure if I was supposed to, but it was just sitting there!) and there were some pretty staggering statistics--the average dad spends just 37 seconds a day with their children; the average child watches 30-50 hours of TV a week; 80% of children entering 1st grade feel good about themselves; By 6th grade, that drops to just 10%. Some 50+% of kids worry their parents will divorce, even more so fear violent harm will come to someone in their family.
The conference aims to change all that.
You can find more info about it from their website (title is linked), but I just wanted to share one more thing...
At the seminar, they asked Dads to make a commitment to their kids. They even gave them certificates to use. Jeremy made one up for Jeremiah (and took 5 more, just to be on the safe side... :-) It says....
My Commitment
Jeremiah Zachary,
You are a unique gift from God
and a very special treasure in my life.
I am thrilled that you are my child.
So it is with great joy that
I commit myself to be a Great Dad to you
--always loving you, encouraging you, and caring for you--
with the guidance and grace of God.
Signed by his Daddy, June 22, 2007.

I 'bout cried. :-) It's getting framed and put up. I'm so glad Jeremy went. :-)
