We've been to the movies...

Okay, so I was going to do this methodically, telling you all about our weekend, and how we've seen two movies at the theater in the past 48 hours (here, AMC, take $48 of our hard earned dollars for 5 hours of entertainment... really doesn't sound so bad when you put it that way, actually... anyways...) I have to jump right in and tell you this...

Transformers was freakin' awesome!

Seriously, the best movie I've seen since, probably, Spider-man 1, maybe 2, but I still love the first one. Yeah, so anyways, it was awesome! As one person put it, "It was like a big honking slice of Awesome-toast buttered on both sides with awesome. It was a double serving of Hell Yeah with a side order of OMG.!" (don't feel bad if you don't quite get that... the point is, it's awesome!)

Now, I grew up on Transformers... I have the first three seasons on DVD, the movie ("You've got the touch!" Gotta loves 80's hair bands...), my uncle had a bunch of the toys (metal and plastic--theose things were dangerous! Until my brother destroyed them all... I'm sure he's pretty pissed now. Oh well.) While I didn't always understand what was going on in the show (I remember being utterly confused by it, but always knew we were switching from the Autobots to Decepticons when the little face/mask thing would flip around and stuff...), it was fun to watch, though looking back on it now, it was really kinda lame. But it was fun to watch. That's the point.

The movie is very similar--it's really fun to watch. It has it's moments where you just kinda cringe (like, everytime there was blatant product placement... Hello, Mt. Dew! How's it going? GMC, looking good! Nokia, whatever happened to the N-Gage??? And of course, what would a robot movie be with AN X-BOX 360 and Dance Dance Revolution!? Anyways...) and that part where Sam and Mikayla's character have that tender moment when he should be haulin' ____ (your choice of body part) to the stupid building was just S-T-U-P-I-D! Oh yeah, and Optimus Prime does NOT say, "My bad..." Seriously.

But, aside from those few moments, it was really really cool. Do NOT wait for the DVD on this one--even our TV, as big as it is, would not do this movie justice.

Moving on.

We also saw Fantastic 4. It was good. I'm glad we saw it first, though. Otherwise I wouldn't have seen it (would have seen Transformers a 2nd time.)

And that's 'bout all I've got. :-)
