Just wanted to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there--did you try to take today "off", only to find yourself still doing as much (or almost) as you normally do?? :) Good times, eh?
Hope everyone had a blessed day, and remembered to do something nice for your mother, too! Don't forget to tell her that ya love her (I know I don't say it enough!)
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Mother's Day--the traditional gift to give back then was a single, white carnation. And there were no "cards"--they wrote their own letters! Moms really dig that kind of stuff. :)
Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day x 2!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we good day though Chris had to work. Me and Jakob went to my Mom's house(we presented her with a nice bouquet from me and Uncle Jay{even though Jay was not with me when we got it, I always say it's from both of us. I am such a nice sis!! ;]} and a single rose with some baby breath from Jakob. =)! My mom loved them!) for a brunch and Jakob got to see his favorite Uncle(who also mowed the lawed with the 'big tractor' and let Jakob ride with him..so cute)! Then, after that me and my Mom went to visit John's parents for a short while.
Later on, when Chris got home he came bearing a lovely hanging plant filled with white pansies. And today he plans on taking me to breakfast. :)!!!
What did you guys do? How did you all enjoy your first Mother's Day? I know my first one I was so emotional and rememberable. =)
Sounds like you had a really nice day! Ride-on mowers are definitely awesome, even if you're not a kid :)
ReplyDeleteThis year's Mother's Day played out similar to last year's Mother's Day... I couldn't sleep (little girl here was practicing for the gymnastics at 4 a.m.!) so I woke up and made myself breakfast, since I was STARVING! Then I went and laid down for a few minutes 'til Jeremy got out of the shower--he then informed me he was going to go get me Starbucks, but I was full, so I said, "That's okay, I don't want any." And then he said he would make me breakfast, but I had already eaten. So he tried! We didn't really have time for him to do either, though, as we had to get to church by 8:45 to watch our friend's baby dedication (we normally don't get up until 8, 8:30, so this was an early day for us.)
That's 'bout it. We went to Grandma's to bring her her gift/card/flowers... hung out there, then drove home in the POURING RAIN! It was a scary drive--hydroplaning everywhere, passed a few stranded cars in flooded streets... what a mess.
I have a feeling Mother's Day will be much more fun when Jeremiah's old enough to help Daddy with it...
