Too Cute!
He's even got a little bit of an Alfala hair thing going, huh?
I was just going to ask the same thing. Not wanting to be too much of the doting grandpa, but that's pretty early for the first smile isn't it?
Aha! I was right. I just found the following on the net. (The story has to do with images that appear to capture babies smiling before they're born.)
'An obstetrician who has been using the Austrian-developed equipment at a private London health clinic for two years, Stuart Campbell, said: "It is remarkable that a newborn baby does not smile for about six weeks after birth. But before birth, most babies smile frequently. This may indicate the baby's trouble-free existence in the womb and the relatively traumatic first few weeks after birth when the baby is reacting to a strange environment."'
Yeah, well, technically that may not have been a true smile (or it may be... we'll never know for sure now will we?) I think it was good timing on the picture, but gosh darnit it's cute!
He does smile all the time though, especially when he's sleeping. He'll have his eyes closed, and you'll see it just inch across his face... I tried getting a pic of that today, but of course, as soon as I started trying, he stopped it. :( But that's okay, we'll get more, I'm sure!
He is super precious, isn't he?? We're loving this parenting thing (not so much the sleepless nights, but we got quite a bit of sleep last night, so we should be good for now...)
Yesterday, he smiled for me twice in a row... they were definately smiles! The first time, I smiled at him up close and was talking to him in a high-pitched voice (did you know a babies' hearing is more developed in the upper ranges?) Anyway, he smiled back with a wide grin (showing his gums of course)... It was awesome.
is he smiling in that picture??
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that he is! :)

He is adorable! Baby smiles are the best!
ReplyDeleteHe's beautiful! I remember he smiled within the first two hours after his birth. He's lovely. You're both doing so well.
