Woes for X-Men 3?

Okay, I've been surfing the message boards trying to find some good info about X3. I've seen the trailer and I've got mixed feelings about it. After reading some boards today, I must say, I'm a bit concerned, and I'll tell you why (warning! Possible movie spoilers follow...)

~What the heck is up with that STOOOPID whirlibird action they've got Storm doing in the trailer?! Okay, let's take a quick poll: All who thinks Storms character IN THE MOVIES kicks butt, and deserves more screen time, raise your hand. Uhh, you lone soul in the back there, you can put your hand down now... Seriously, though, Storm's character (Halle Berry) has got to be the WORST translation of comic to film out of all the characters. Now, they totally changed my Rogue... she's not the tough, strong, flying type that I love, but I can live with what they've made her (it is early on in the continuum for her, after all...), but Storm??? She was always freaking cool! And look what they've made of her. What REALLY kills me is that they've let Halle's nagging/whining/complaining get to them, and, at least it appears, they've given her a much bigger role in this movie! I'm sorry, but unless Halle's acting has improved TREMENDOUSLY since filming Catwoman (yeah that's likely), Storm's gonna ruin this movie for me. "You know what happens when a toad's struck by lightning?? Same thing as everything else." It was supposed to be, "They CROAK!" HA HA HA! Moving on...

~Rumor has it, Prof. X and Cyclops both die in this movie. Of course, I haven't seen the movie yet, but that's someone one can deduce from the trailer. Now, I've not NO problem with them killing Cyclops. They did a GREAT job of making the film character just as whiney and pathetic as in the comics (although maybe a bit too much, as Cyclops in the comics does command a certain leadership and respect from his team--not as apparent in the films), and I didn't cry when they killed him in the comics. I will be most distraught, though, if they kill Prof. X off in the movies and don't bring him back somehow like Aslan in Narnia... Okay, that's a stretch, but there is a well known fact about comic book deaths--they always come back! (Except for Uncle Ben, but that's a little different--no death of Uncle Ben, no reason for Spider-man to exist) Heck, I've lost count of how many times Jean Grey has been killed in the comics... at least 4 times... Anyways, if he doesn't come back in this movie, I can deal, s'long as they forshadow his return in future movies (though it has also been rumored that 3 is IT! No more X-Men movies after that, except for individual spinoffs, like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine movie coming out). So yeah, I won't be happy about that if it happens.

~No Nightcrawler in X3. Not really much to say about that, except :-(

~Did I mention Storm's still there? For a while, it sounded like she wasn't gonna come back... I was hoping. Oh well.

~I'm still a little "iffy" about Juggernaut's role in the movie. If he's just Magneto's pawn, like Bane in the Batman flick, not interested... So that remains to be seen. Have you seen his pic yet? Look here.

Okay, enough bad/sad. Now some good!

~Jean Grey's coming back (as she always does)! Umm.. she looks a little pissed off about something. On a related note, I really enjoyed Famke's portrayal of Jean Grey in the 2nd movie. Very similar to the Jean Grey we all know and love, in that she struggled with her powers (Jean was always trying to keep under control in the comics--loss of control meant chaos for the rest of the world... She was much more powerful than anyone realized), she was not afraid to take control when necessary, vulnerable, smart, whitty, etc. I enjoyed it. Now, she's coming back as Phoenix (looks like Dark Phoenix, though), and she's got attitude! Enjoy the following pics:

She'll be a fun addition to the dark, scary flick that is X-Men 3. Well, maybe not scary, but this film definitely seems to be taking a turn to the dark side. In what other world would Storm and Wolverine be running the school? Oh yeah, everyone else is dead. My bad.

~Beast is in it! I can TOTALLY picture Kelsey Grammar as Beast, at least from a dialogue standpoint. And the pics on the official site are okay, but they really don't do the "true" beast justice. I will go into the flick with an open mind, as far as Beast is concerned.

~Two other new characters include Angel (looks very cool with his wings... I'm impressed... all the younga gals think he's "uber haut"... I won't go that far...), and Callisto (never much of a fan of, personally, but we have yet to see how she'll play out in the flick...) Their pics are on the official site, along with Beast, Juggie, and the rest of the crew.

~Overall, looks like much more action in the flick this time around, which is always good in a movie about superheroes. Nuff said.

So I guess there is hope for Xmen 3... I should stop reading message boards. Coming May 26, 2006 to a theater near you...
