Jeremiah's also afraid of the trashcan... The same trashcan he used to stand next to and play with over and over again, until we found him something else to do.
See, it's one of those automatic ones--you wave your hand over it, it opens, toss your trash, it automatically closes after a few seconds. Well, one day, Jeremy threw something out, and stayed over the sensor a little longer than normal, so it stayed open, and wouldn't shut without being reactivated. Jeremy walked away, and it was still open. Jeremiah was in his high chair (a few feet away, maybe 5-6?) and he started freaking out! At first it was just whining, but by the time I figured out why he was so upset, he was screaming and could not be calmed down until it was shut and someone was holding him....
Again, same trashcan he used to play with when we first got it... Don't know what's changed since then... It's not like it snaps shut where it would hurt or something, if it closed on your hand. I dunno... Now, he watches it like it's going to try something when we're not looking. Pretty funny. We'll enjoy teasing him about that one when he gets older. Good one to share at the wedding someday ("I remember when Jeremiah was just a toddler, and was terrified of our kitchen trashcan... and getting covered in spaghetti..." lol)
